Why a specification sheet matters
A quote is not a complete manufacturing instruction. If dimensions, material grades, tolerances, artwork versions, tests, packout, and approval rules live across email threads, two teams can approve different products while believing they agreed. A controlled specification gives the brand, converter, printer, packer, and inspector one reference.
Mark unknown requirements as TBD and assign an owner. A visible open issue is safer than a plausible guess that quietly becomes a production instruction.
Use converter-specific requirements
The prompts are a starting structure, not universal tolerances. Confirm bleed, safety margins, color targets, inspection levels, material standards, test methods, and legal requirements with the responsible converter and qualified compliance reviewer. Control changes after approval
Record a revision, date, owner, and approved samples. Require written approval before changing the manufacturing site, substrate, caliper, adhesive, ink system, coating, tooling, or packout. When a change is approved, update the specification and archive the superseded version so production and inspection use the same revision.
